Why we’re here
Hundred Financial Planning was created to help people in their 30s and 40s do more with their money. We strive to understand your individual needs, while guiding you in the direction that aligns with your goals. We're not just here to tell you what to do with your money. We want to help you understand why you should do it and what it will mean for your life.
Financial planning is about more than creating a portfolio that will allow you to retire someday. It's about making the right moves right now so that you can enjoy your life today.
Ryan Johnson, BFA™
Founder and Financial Planner
I originally hail from West Michigan, but life led me to spend nine incredible years in the vibrant Twin Cities. It was there that I discovered my passion for financial planning, and I've been helping individuals and families ever since.
I'm a proud alumnus of the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!), where I developed my unquenchable curiosity. My wife tells me I ask too many questions sometimes. Getting to know people is undoubtedly my favorite part of living.
My Family
Family is at the core of everything I do. My beautiful wife, Calli, was the first to recognize my dedication to helping others with their financial questions. She encouraged me to pursue this as a career, and I haven't looked back since. We share a deep love for our son, Moses, and spend our free time exploring the great outdoors, hiking together, or sneaking in a round of golf (I know, I couldn’t escape the cliche). Often family reminds me of the importance of financial planning - it's about removing money as a barrier to life, so you’re freed up to cherish moments like these.
A Passion for Helping Others
I love what I do. I don't even think I will ever plan to retire. As a lifelong learner, this career provides endless opportunities to do just that. I started Hundred because I believed I could provide an immense amount of value to households who still have some time left on their journey and desire a guide along the way.
How We’re Different
Finding financial advice can be difficult. The market is saturated with gurus, podcasters, and a lot of people who are really just trying to sell you insurance. The financial planners you do know of may be out of your price range or focused on goals that don't align with your own.
At Hundred Financial Planning, we're focused on making one-on-one financial planning more straightforward and accessible. We won't try to sell you products or services you don't need, and we won't take actions unless they align with your goals and values.
Here's what we're about:
No Asset Minimums | Relationship-based | No Products | Fiduciary
Emphasis on Education | Long-Term Focus | Proactive
Where did the name ‘Hundred’ come from?
In Mark Chapter 4, we encounter the Parable of the Sower, where a farmer scatters seeds across various types of soil. The condition of the soil determines whether the seeds flourish or wither. Some fall on unproductive ground like the path, rocky soil, or thorns, yielding no fruit.
But some seeds fall on good soil and produce a bountiful crop.
The story goes on to share that the soil is a metaphor for our lives, each representing a barrier, in which we are not able to live to the fullest potential of God’s giftings. It also shares that the thorny soil represents the “worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things.”
Money has the power to be one of the greatest detractors from fulfilling our ambitions and God-given callings in our lives. My desire is to serve clients with a heart of cultivation. To remove the thorns, the worries of this life, and the deceitfulness of riches. To create lives of good soil.
The story shares that good soil produces a harvest, “some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”
Let's aim for a hundred together.
